Disney has spread its magic to Shanghai with its latest Disney Shanghai Resort located in Shanghai, China. Asides from the fun rides and whimsical characters, some Muslims may be surprised to find that there is indeed halal food available at the park; if you know where to look.
Disneytown, the free downtown area located right next to the theme park, is where you can find the famous Food Republic food court. Don’t worry if you have already entered the park as there is a side entrance where you can exit and re-enter the park again using your ticket.
Right when you step in, there will be a halal food stall named Yershan Restaurant. They offer a nice menu featuring some Chinese-Uighur specialties at a reasonable price (for a Disney restaurant).
Sets start at just 40 RMB for a rice or noodle dish. Although the rice is quite oily, it is very tasty and portions are large so some light eaters can share.
There are also lamb skewers at only 5 RMB each which is comparable to what you can find in the city. The perfect halal snack at Disneyland in Shanghai!
